Nitrogen monitoring is important for process control, regulations, and economic reasons. There are several techniques that can be used to monitor nitrogen, some of which can be time consuming, labor intensive, and may have waste disposal concerns.
This study examines using a High Temperature Combustion (HTC) Total Organic Carbon (TOC)/Total Nitrogen (TN) analyzer with chemiliumunescence detection (CLD) to monitor nitrogen in samples. By using HTC TN, both TOC and TN can be determined simultaneously, analysis is completed faster, real time analysis can be done, and many matrices can be used. This study will also compare nitrogen analysis with HTC TN to other known nitrogen testing methods.
